I learned a valuable lesson today...when you think you could do better and it seems like the grass may be greener on the other side, don't be surprised if when you make it over to the other side, you realize that you were so much better off where you were.
In life, in work, in love, in all things, we are faced with decisions to make. When we make those decisions you're psyched at first cus change is always good. But then after a while, you realize that it's not quite what you thought it would be. The awe and excitement wears off and you realize that you were way more happier where you were. Some of us have the option of turning around and going back. Spitting it out if the soup's too hot.
But when you don't have that option there's only one thing you can do. Live with it and move on. The brigth side of the situation is that you're back in a shitty situation and there's nowhere else to go from here except up.
Relax, it's all gonna sort itself out in the end.

Law School = Lawyer = Ferrari Money
So maybe my intentions are a bit skewed, but I'll move on anyways. I just got accepted to law school and am going to start taking classes on Aug 12. Here's my motivation for going to law school.
Engineering is cool and all. I like the work, it can be challenging at times. But in order to make a dent in the bank I would need to a)eventually become CEO or VP of some company or b)invent something new patent it and sell the rights.
Typically option a) can be accomplished after about 30 years working for the same company and even then it's not guaranteed thanks to the good ole boy system employed in corporate america.
option b) seems like it might take a whole lot longer, considering the most profitable advances today deal with cutting edge technology, software enhancements, or computer software programming none of which are my forte. I'm a mechanical designer with very little inclination mechanically. I do the theoretical work but going out there and actually doing it doesn't always give me a boner.
What about law school? Well let's just say as an intellectual property lawyer working for a law firm, salary starts in the 120K region straight out. There's also the option of working contracts and negotiations in entertainment and sports which is worth 10% of the amount negotiated. Additionally, a law degree is one of those advanced degrees that would eventually put me on the fast track for option a) mentioned above.

Work it out!!!
Wednesday was a good lifting day and it only took like 20 mins. I had my heart rate up after playing ball so I lifted some weight. Here's what I did:
Bench Press 3 x 225 @ 12 reps
Dumbell Curls 3 x 50 lbs @ 12 reps
Cable Pulldown 3 x 165 lbs @ 12 reps
That bench is some NFL combine action right there. Don't let me get out on a field and just happen to run anywhere close to a 4.5 / 40.
I'd walk on for the Orlando Predators, go to the NFL in about 2 years, and then get on that ballerrific status!
"get gully or get the fuck out"
-this has been a team diesel announcement!

Naw, I'm not tombout a Big Fuckin' Peridontal.....I'm tombout Body Fat Percentage. Had mine checked last week. Your boy is sittin at %19. I was like %12-%12.5 when I graduated highschool (60 lbs. ago) %19 percent is in the normal/acceptable ranges on all of the charts that I have seen, but it isn't where I wanna be.
Maybe my highschool percentage is unobtainable, maybe not, but I am gonna strive to get there. I want to atleast get to %15. So, yeah, your boy is still training. I fell outta my good workout routine and healthier eating regiment due to the Sobe Vacay (Well worth it too....next union of the Crew: Florida Classic in Orlando, but I'm back up on it. Back to swallowing down that oatmeal and shit. Back to training. Trying to get comfy with running on the treadmill. It is hella hard after running for a couple weeks at the track. (On the track I can continuously adjust my speed to fit how I'm feeling. That treadmill is does not adjust to shit well and it is a pain in the ass to have to keep hitting buttons.) Anyway.....
I'm still trying to stick to the early challenge made by e-dot about the Marathon joint. Maybe not in a year....maybe year after next so that I can make sure my body is propperly conditioned. I do plan on doing little races here and there as milestones. Like I am so trying to rn in a 5K in the Fall...maybe a 10 K in the spring....I really would like to do the Muddy Buddy race in O-town next spring/summer time. Maybe a Triathalon Sprint in there somewhere.
Anyway...where is the rest of the team on the little running commitment we made?

GObama 2008!
On June 3, 2008 Sen. Barack Obama becomes the first African American to lead a presidential candidacy on a major ticket.
This marks a historic occasion in not only Black History, but also in American history. It shows that we as a country and as a people have taken the next step in uniting and coming together. Being an African American, Obama won not only a majority of the African American votes, but also a fair share of the non-african american vote.
It's a great feat for anyone to bring people together and work towards a common goal. Indeed it is a truly glorious occasion. I know that there are some of us, or some of our parents that didn't think they would live to see this happen. A black man running for president and having a good chance of winning. This is a celebration not only for us but for those that have come before us and those to follow.
In the midst of all the celebration, there are those who choose to rain down and say Obama stands for nothing more than socialism, that his candidacy is some sideshow that is merely a means to draw attention and garner popularity.
Yeah right.
On the contrary, Obama's candidacy stands for a step forward in uniting a country that only 42 years ago from today didn't allow african americans to vote. Unity is the ultimate goal. The uniting of a people can change the world. As with every great feat it requires a first step.
Obama in 2008 for president is the first step.

SOBE Check List
this is what i've been doing to get ready for south beach...
I cut back on beef, pork and chicken. I'm eating those meats once a week. So I'm eating a lot of fish and other seafood. Or sometimes just plain veggies.
I haven't been able to workout this week cus i'm exhausted by the time i get home from work. Been doing some pushups and situps around the house. But I hope to kick it into overdrive next week as we count down to Sobe.
Instead, I've been drinking a whole lot of liquor! Been working on my passing out techniques. This is one of the few times that I get together with my friends (without my girl) and just Wild the ____k out!
It's east meets west. Billiam and Big Chris from Cali, meeting up with me, the bully and solar! should be some ignance and a whole lot of drunk spanish talking (there's a story that I speak fluent spanish when i'm drunk) there was even one time i pulled a puerto rican chick in spanish while solar watched from the sideline amazed.
that's what i'm doing to get ready for south beach. i'm expecting to consume atleast a handle of dat crown by myself...

Countdown to South Beach
Aight so we are at the point where are 10 or 11 days out from Sobe.
Everyone is making that last minute push.
I'm cutting back on my diet. Low carb type thing. Most of my carbs a clean and pure with a loooowww glycemic index and high amounts of fiber....yeah, that's right your boy is eating plain Oatmeal. I make it with way more water than you are supposed to so I can just drink it down.
Yeah, I'm a MAN damnit!!
What am I having for dinner tonight? I'll tell you....I'm getting some Salmon steamed at Publix.
So basically I'm eating meat and Oatmeal. And drinking black coffee.
I'm also eating thunder and crapping lightning!!
I'm sooooo raw.
I'm still hitting my workouts and cardio and all that, but I have started hittin abs up some, just to kinda tighten things up a little.
What is the rest of the team doing extra for this last few days?

Allow me to reintroduce myself...
Picking up where the Bully started with the working out I'ma give ya'll a status on the boy's workout. First of all, i'm strong again...And not just 3 or 4 reps strong here's why:
Dumbell Press - 3 x 10 reps @ 90 lbs
Dumbell Curl to Shoulder Press - 3 x 10 @ 45 lbs
Dumbell Bent over rows - 3 x 10 @ 75 and 80 lbs
That's the bulk of my workout as far as strengthening and getting on that swole tip. So i hopped on that bench the other day and I'm starting to get it back as well. I'm trying to get my combine bench up. Which is why i maxed out 15 reps at 225 for my first set and then 2 x 6 @ 245 lbs to finish off.
On the cardio tip, I'm mixing it up. Stairmaster for like 20 minutes followed by the elliptical machine for another 20. Or I'll do one of those cardios followed by a high intensity interval on the treadmill:
Walk at 3.5 mph for 5 minutes to warm up then interval run/walking for 10 minutes as follows:
walk 3.5 for 1 minute run for 6.0 for 1 minute
walk 3.5 for 1 mintue run for 6.5 for 1 minute
walk 3.5 for 1 minute run for 7.0 for 1 minute
walk 3.5 for 1 minute run for 7.5 for 1 minute
walk 3.5 for 1 minute run for 8.0 for 1 minute
I done bout busted my ass and ate in on the tread atleast twice specially getting up around 7.0.
I finish off with 5 minutes walking at 3.5.
But some 275 calories and 1.70 miles later i'm feeling all the burn.
3 more weeks to Sobe watch out for them team diesel t-shirts!

Long time no post
Yeah, your boy been training still. Pretty much.
I fell off for bout a strong month. Between me not getting enough sleep cause I kept on staying up to talk to females and then I cut back on my caloric intake and all that shit....and allergies jumped up and started woming that ass. I pretty went around feeling like a tired no energy having horny ass zombie.
But I got me some ass. And I started getting me some sleep. And I got back on my vitamins and other shit. I got back on my GNC MEGA MAN Sport Multivitamins. My B-12 and my Chromium. The Mega Man shit and B-12 because my body needs the extra vitamins that it was loosing from the hard training and all that. The chromium...actually chromium picollinate is something my doc (he is all into the wholistic thing) told me about way back when I had the brush with diabetes. Chromium helps your body to process glucose faster and more efficiently. It also works as an appetite suppressant. He suggested I take 400 micrograms. I started with that back when I first started taking vitamins and such. I was on the chromium and then started the mega man vitamins. Well, the mega man vitamins have another 150 micrograms of chromium which boosted my total chromium intake to 550 micrograms. At that level I can deffinitely feel that appetite suppressant effect. It gradually decreases to where you can't really tell...until you get off.
Studies were done on chromium and its effects on atheletes. It was found that 600 is the best dose level and that after a period of about 8 weeks or so (I don't really remember) the cats leanded up and gained a little muscle and had performance increases.
Anyway, here are the weights and reps I'm doing:
Incline dumbell press: 3x10 with 90's
flat bench with barbell: 3x10 with 265lbs.
Curls with ez curl bar: 3x8 with 115lbs. (Thats 45's on that bar)
tricep pulldowns with the cables: 3 sets reps ranging from 25 to 15
Folks are noticin your boy in the gym, tho. Like damn....he is not playing with twice the weight I am doing faster, easier, and with much better form.
Anyway.......Real soon to Sobe!! I'm bout to botox and nair my balls!

Kiss My Ass (Open Post)
Yo....Have you ever thought about some fucked up ways to quit a job that you hate? Like taking a vacation and starting a new job while your other job pays you for vacation; then on your last day of vacation you call the old company in a calm collected voice "Well you know Boss.....Kiss my ass...Oh Word..I'm fired.....Well I got another Job.....ALLOW ME REINTRODUCE MYSELF MY NAME IS HOVA BITCH". OR emailing your old boss with your new email address Something like this:
From: Bryant, James C. (james.c.bryant@newcompany.com)
To: Old, Boss
Subject: KMA
As you can see I'm emailing you from another company. So...I quit
Please Kiss My Ass,
Chris
Something like that...lol...
Please share some ideas.....I know ya'll got some

Day 2 in the gym...
Ok here's my workout summary for Day 2:
Dumbell press. 10 reps @ 60, 70 and 80 lbs.
Dumbell rows. 10 reps @ 65, 75, 75
Dumbell tricep extension. 10 reps @ 60, 70, 70
Dumbell Curls. 10 reps @ 40, 40, 35
Crunches 3 X 15
20 mins of elliptical cardio
My back was straining a bit with the tricep extension, which means i probably need to stretch and regain some flexibility.
I know this is a little biznitch workout compared to what the other members of team diesel are doing now. But i gotta slowly work my way back in it.
I chose to work with dumbells the whole time to get more work. This more work is achieved by incorporating stabilizer muscles when you're lifting and trying to maintain good form. The downside is that you can't lift that much weight immediately, you have to work up to it. So i'm looking to up the weights in about a week.

Passionate vs. Gifted
When a person speaks of their passion usually you hear things like "i can't live without it", "it's all i've ever wanted to do", "i could do this for the rest of my life and be happy" and more lines to that effect.
I'm all for people being passionate about something and going after their dreams. But keep in mind that some of these things can and will always remain just that, DREAMS.
Then on the other hand, there is the concept of being gifted. Sometimes it's referred to as your God given talent. The best way that I have heard it described is a skill, or a trade, or a method of doing something that comes naturally to you. Something to where you achieve exceptional results while putting in very minimal effort. Think of gifted athletes and musicians. I'm not saying that these people work any less harder than the average person. What I am saying is that what takes the average person two or three times the effort to achieve, it takes the gifted person very minimal effort.
Which goes into what I'm really trying to say, we should focus more of our efforts into making the most of our gifts and a little less time in things we are passionate about. I'm not saying give up on your passions. We all have these and we need them to keep us alive and to break away from the everyday routines that we have to go through with bills and responsibilities.
I'm not saying give up your passions. Instead I'm saying to enhance your gifts. You can make the most out of your life and the world around you with these gifts. If you're gifted with math and science, then consider tutoring or mentoring. If you're a gifted speaker, then go out and talk to people, help people to overcome their fears of speaking.
As with anything, what starts out as a passion can turn out to be a gift. Time changes everything.
When it comes to passions, you can spend the rest of your life spinning your wheels chasing what you think you're supposed to be good at. Doing this, causes you to miss out and take for granted the things that you have been gifted with.
Know your passions and enjoy them, share them with others. But use your gifts to make the world around you that much better. It's your way of leaving your mark on the world. It shouldn't be that hard because when you think about it, it's what you were "born to do."

The long way back...
it's a long climb back to the top, but every great feat always begins with that first step...
being out of the gym and that hardcore workout grind for about 2 months has really put a strain on my body. I woke the other day with a stiff back and some 246lbs on my 5'11" frame.
In fullback or linebacker terms, that would be an ideal situation. But I ain't on no pro ball team so the only term to describe this situation for me is "out-of-shape." Don't get me wrong, a lot of cats would need a lot of work to have the build that i have and the weight and muscle distribution that I carry. But for me, it's just not a comfortable situation
So I headed back to the gym via L.A. Fitness at Waterford Lakes in Orlando. This was Day 1:
weight 246 lbs.
-1 basketball game which mostly consisted of running up and down the court for 10 mins and breaking a sweat. Scored 2 points in a game to 11...
-Pulldowns, 3 X 10 at 135 lbs.
-Bench press, 3 X 10 at 185 lbs.
-10 mins of cardio on the elliptical machine.
The new occurence is beckys with a booty and some tig ole. I seen em and they do exist!
it's a long way back but i'ma keep you posted...

Remembering Dr. King
Today is April 4 and it marks the 40 year mark since the assasination of Dr. Martin Luther King.
I sit here today in my position in corporate america living up to my end of the deal. Dr. King worked hard all of his life and gave the ultimate sacrifice just so I could do what I am doing now.
Making it through college, staying out of prison, and keeping my head straight is just me keeping up my end of the deal.
Dr. King gave his life, everything above is just me giving as much as I can in return.
Take time to think about where we are today...
peace...

I'm a Blessed Man...
Yo, last weekend was one hell of a weekend. NSBE (National Society of Black Engineers) had its National Conference in Orlando, Florida. It was great for a few reasons; the first being that I got to see my family. It's been a long time since I've seen Moms, my nephews, and brothers (Christmas was the last time). The second, most of my friends were there (Team Diesel was there with Finleys being well represented...lol). I consider myself the richest man in the world. My best friends are the reason why I say this. I might not have a lot of money at this point in my life; but I have people in my life who love me for me and money can't buy that. These people would give me the shirt off their back; but yet let me know that when I'm wrong. They have been there for me through many heartbreaks and celebrations. They will be apart of my foundation for my success.
So I'm writing this not only to thank all my friends, but to remind everybody who reads this to take a moment and just think about who is in your life. Thank all of those who love you for you and realize that they make you wealthy.
P.S. No Homo....lol

What's next?
Remember when you used to read comic books and they used to have all those invisible cars and such? Well guess what, they done did it! The British army has come up with an experimental way to project invisibility. Check it out:
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,306678,00.html
Now let's put a spin on it. Imagine rollin down your favorite main highway in a droptop with that "real chameleon" paint job. Tombout nothing but a couple heads rollin down the road...
that would be ignant...or cool, depends which side of the line you're on.

the new new...
so i haven't posted in a while and i thought i would do a little catch up posting. first of here's why i haven't posted in a while...i just started a new job in a new city. So i've been in between places of work and getting situated. Now that I'm back in the swing of things I'll just go on and blog about the first thing on my mind.
I have a 1 hour commute to work every morning. I leave my house at 6:00 am and get to my job at about 7:15 am. So I listen to the Steve Harvey Morning Show. All the other people I used to work with used to listen to NPR and stuff like that. Me I can't get into it, they wanna have all these heavily intellectual conversations about current issues. Not me, I just wanna listen to some good music, a little bit of comedy (Steve and Nephew Tommy) and then maojr current events that affect me.
Tuesday, Steve (Bully, there you go, one nigga named Steve...LOL) they was responding to the comments that Barack's pastor made in support of Obama's campaign. He kinda got off track, instead of tackling issues as to why people should support the Obama campaign he went off on a tangent talking about how our foreign relations are messed up. An interesting point that was later brought up on the show is that people in other countries tend to have a disliking to us because of our relations with their country.
These relations are a result of our country's foreign relations policies. But as citizens, we only vote for two things: candidates, and local issues. Yet day in and day out we deal with people and foreigners that talk shit about us because of the way our country be acting up.
Anyways, some CNN analyst was like "I don't know why he's bringing up all these dead issues." He was referring to Pastor Wright commenting on Vietnam, Hiroshima, and Iraq. A lady called in and made a very intelligent comment..."Dead to Who?" I thought that was funny cus she was referring to the CNN analyst trying to dismiss that issues like those above and racism and our use of the race card, is a dead issue.
So yeah, sorry this ain't quite a typical team diesel post. But with so much on the line in this election, I think we owe it to ourselves to atleast be aware of the issues going on.
My name is edot carter and I approve this message!

You gotta walk before you run
Yeah, a wise old man once said that. And that shit is the truth.....especially if you are a heave as hell ass nigga like myself (Don't worry, white people, y'all's heavy asses gotta walk before you run too).
Yeah man, so I'm starting to get ready to begin training for the Marathon that E-dot proposed about a month ago. He said this is gonna be his way to defeat his consistantly inconsistant ass. Yeah, dude aint said shit about the Marathon since either. Ol' non committing yellow ass.
Anyway, I'm heavy than a sumbitch. 260lbs. That's especially heavy for me to only be 5'9". Your boy is just plain out not built for the running thing. I have ran before...well, tried to get into a little running groove. Gotten up to a slow slow mile and a half a few times a week. It always sucked. Chin splints like no ones business, sore knees and legs and all that horrible stuff. Jumpin into the running was just rough on the body. And running Marathons is way more worser. So, this time around I am going to take my time and ease into the running. I be walking.
Yep, on the treadmill in the gym. That's right. Some people want to clown you for walking on the treadmill. Let a sumbitch come and try to clown the BULLY about shit and watch him get mushed.
But yeah, I am gonna take time, build up my muscles and connective tissues, get my leg bone density start to creep up before I just jump into the running thing. If my body is prepared for the runing it will be much easier for it to completely adapt to it and will make my running experience that much more enjoyable.
So, for all yall other heavy mofos...take it easy in the beginning then get into it.
And for everyone else that is gonna train to do the marathon with Team Diesel make sure you pace your trianing right.
Take care of your body. You only have one.

The Best Motivation of ALL
And that would be results.
I'm tombout improvements.
Once I start seeing them...then I know other people will start seeing them, which makes it all the better.
Yeah, your boy is starting to see noticeable increases in strength. When I first got back in the gym, back in mid January, I was only putting 225 on bench and then struuuugggled to get my 3x8. Hell, there were times when I wasn't even getting my 3x8. Yesterday I did all 3x8 (actually I got number 9 on my 3rd set by myself and then a light spot on number 10) with 265. This was my 3 or fourth time completely finishing my whole 3x8. My completions have been consecutive also. None of that "Oh, I'm strong today, but not so much for the rest of the week" type stuff. I'm gonna work my way up to sets o' 12, then I'm gonna up the weight and go back to sets o' 8. I'll prolly make a big jump too seeing how I think it will be quite a while before I can get 3x12 with 265. Watch me be all type of ballsy and go after 295. If I do that on a 3x8. Y'all niggas bet not try to tell me nothin'. (Well, except for Big Chris....I remember you telling me the Stories of how back when you and Big Joe used to lift together and you were doing 3x15 with 315)
My incline Dumbell game is going up to. I completed my 3x8 with 95 dumbells yesterday for the first time. I'm bringing that ol' brute strength back fa' shooooo.
Lung wise....that there is coming up too. Especially the mindset. My heartrate doesn't get as high, even with a higher intensity and my mental shit is getting right for the endurance. That little voice in my head that be like "Damn, nigga, I'm tired. I saaaaid I'm tired, nigga, stop running and shit!!" is starting to be replaced with a voice that says "Keep going...keep going...this is where the benefits come...ol' bith ass niggas would be stopping her, but them bitches aint gonna see the results that you will" "And I am even kinda starting to hear the voice that says " Fuck all them. Fuck all that. Its just you and you gotta win." When that last voice starts coming through....WHHHOOOOOOOOOO. Shit starts getting real scary off in the gym.
When I get in that zone......I take everything I see or do in the gym personally, get pissed PISSED and I use the adrenaline and extra EXTRA boost of testosterone to help me train insanely hard. I had a buddy laugh at me one time and tell me I was weird.
BULLY: Whatchu mean I'm weird
Friend: I have never met anyone like you. You are as strong as you want to be.
BULLY: What?
Friend: You might get stuck (completely fatigue) under some weight...and then you just get mad and get like 3 more reps
Yeah, its possible.
You just gotta get your mind right. Tap into that inner beast and let it go. Be off on that Diesel.

The Shark is in the Building
Allow me to re-introduce myself, my name is Hov!
What's really good Team Diesel?!
I heard the word 'marathon', so I figured it was time for me to get in the mix on this blog joint. Since ya'll are already taking care of the 'how to get swole' posts, I'll speak on endurance, mental toughness, and how to get extra cut up. So let's start with today's workout.
The word of the day is brick.
A brick is an endurance session consisting of cycling, followed by running. It basically feels like doing 6 sets of squats and/or leg extensions and then going for a really hard run. Today's brick was a bit different than what I've done in the past and I'm sure that I'll still feel it in the morning. Our coach had us perform the following: 20 minutes biking at race pace then 10 minutes of running, also at race pace, and then repeat twice. After an hour and a half of good ole' cardio, my legs felt like lead, but I'm sure it'll pay off in April when we head to Collegiate Nationals in Tuscaloosa. Woohoo!
Next on my plate is the Wacky 5K tommorow morning and then an easy week of training. Well and I guess I should also mention the stress of grad school. That's always on the menu.

A new challenge
So while i was sitting at my desk thinking of new ways to save the world with one analysis at a time (I'm a mechanical engineer working for a department of defense contractor), this great idea came to me. First a little back story:
I've been known to be very random and very impulsive. I guess this idea right here will attest to that. So I need to do something to prove to myself that I can commit to a program and stick with it. I'm putting myself out there to admit that I have had no stability in working out, working, school, and even relationships.
So here's my challenge to myself and to my fellow Team Diesel-ers. Let's get together and train to run a marathon...
Since we are all in different parts of the country, i figured we would each have our own experiences and just more stuff to write about. As the bully would say, running a marathon would give that extra cut (kidna like that young Shark Fin Finley) that we as muscle heads really really want and need.
And I figured three big boys running a marathon is a hell of a task.
I wanna know what the masses think. Here's how i figured it would work out.
1. We pick a major marathon to train for, NYC, LA, Chicago, Miami, Hawaii, etc. Figure out the date and then start training say 6 months to a year out from that date.
I've always been curious of the running culture. You see the commercials, the advertising, etc. Another sad thing to add to this is that I was a 1.5 mile run away from an appointment as an ROTC cadet. I maxed everything out (push ups and sit ups) but sadly I couldn't make the 1.5 miles in under 12 minutes.
Well it's time for the big boys to get it in gear. The Bully is 5'9 bout 240. Big Chris is bout 5'11, 245 and me, I'm 5'11, 235.

Maybe this is the next challenge that we need fellas. Let me know what you think. Everyone else, sound off!

The "only good day is yesterday" workout Plan
That is one hell of a challenge and I am more then willing to run a marathon. And the following will display my commitment to the challenge...
The Navy SEaL's have a motto during their indoctrination (better known as Hell Week) phase of training; "The only good day was yesterday". What does this mean one may ask; well yesterday is over and today brings more hell the yesterday. Well I want to bring that mentality back to my workouts. I want to be in the shape I was in before I was going to go in the Marines.
Motivated was my middle name when it came to hardcore workouts. However, when I went to Seattle I couldn't get into the groove of working out and running like I did in Cali and Florida. I'm back and ready to work!! There are some lifestyle changes that I will have to make (i.e. eating out all the time, eating late, and eating nasty foods) which will be the hardest part of this transition. Below is my workout plan. Everyday has a different theme as well as my motives for what I will be doing.
Sunday:
Cardio Chil-lax day..
This is a day where I can run on the beach, and gather my thoughts. For bad weather, I will be at Magic 24 hr FitnASS for the view...(jiggling Booty is also relaxing to me).
-Run for 30 mins
-Sprints @ Max Stride, Max Form, and 50% power*
*You are concentrating more on technique then speed. This will create muscle memory for the sprints at Military power (75%) and above.
Mondays and Thursdays (Get LOW, Low, low, low):
-I will concentrate on my lower body, as well as my obliques. Squats, Dead lifts, and lunges will be my primary lifts, with leg extensions, leg curls, and calve raises will be supplementary lifts. All lifts will be 3 set of 12 reps to build both muscle strength as well as muscle endurance.
-My running activity will be a light 30 minute run
Tuesdays and Fridays (Put some Hurr on your chest):
-These are upper body exercises with primary focus on my chest, back and core. Bench, rows, and crunches/back exercises will be my primary lifts, with decline/incline, lat pulls, pull ups, and reverse crunches/flutter kicks and supermans will be my secondary lifts.
-Running will be 12 min warm up followed by 5 100yd dashes and 10 50 yr dashes
Wednesdays (Explosive!!)
-These days are full-body movement exercises, such as cleans, hang cleans, and plyometric workouts ( I just named my primary workout). I will also work my shoulders, biceps and triceps, with curls, pull downs, and shoulder press/butterflies. All exercises will be accompanied by sprints and agility drills.
Saturday Morning (The Crucible):
5 to 10 mile March with 75 lbs on my back..Ipod in my ear. After the march, push-ups, crunches, Pull-ups.
-Every 4Th Saturday: USMC Physical Fitness Test (PFT)
Well there you have it....My workout...Pray for me!!

Why am i at Magic Johnson's 24 hr FitnASS?
Well this is my first blog...and I am going to explain my reasons for going to Magic Johnsons 24hr Fitness in Inglewood, CA. When I first moved here from Seattle, I told myself that I was going to be more serious about working out. I know I workout a lot already, however the quality of each workout downgraded a lot since moving to Seattle. I wanted motivation; and I needed a gym that was going to motivate me to workout.
In my search for a gym, E dot gave me a guess pass to 24 hr fitness in Hermosa Beach. I tried it out and liked it, so I was like it's cool...and then I heard about Magic Johnson's 24 hr fitness...I was like...ok..black-owned business...I'm always down to support my brothas and sistas anyway I can.
I went up there, parked the car, and as I was getting out I saw this booty...As I was staring at it jiggle, this overwhelming light surround me and I couldn't help but follow the bounce of the booty. The more I stared, the brighter the light was; until it consumed me and I was in the lobby of the building. It was like the bounce created a worm hole from the parking lot to the lobby.
I was takenaback and disoriented, but soon I gained my composer and realized where I was. So after I a while, I was trying to see a salesperson about membership. I went in there, telling myself I'm just shopping for a gym right now....and I wasn't going to take the first offer they gave me.
Soon as I started speaking with a salesperson, It started thundering....I was like...WTF, it doesn't normally thunder in Cali, what the hell is that?. All of a sudden, I looked toward the door, and it started raining big asses...I mean we were experiencing a category 5 Ho-icane....After it was finished, I looked at the salesperson and was like...Where do I sign up?

Double tappin that ass
Soooo, yeah, last weekend your boy went down to Tampuh to get his Bullshit on. Had a good ol' time. Ended up going to a gun range. I was bucking with both of my girls. Yep the Lil' Girl (that 9 millinater) and the Big Girl (that 12 gauge). It was an indoor range, I was able to know just how far my target was, so now I know that I can consistantly hit a Buster from 30ft. with the Millinater. I'm talking that double tap like what the cops do and with one hand (Hell, if you have time to stand there, grab the gun with both hands, making that isosceles triangle and get a good aim then you have enough time to get out of the situation that you might need to pull a gun). Yeah, one hand point and shoot PAP PAP......PAP PAP.......PAP PAP. Yeah, just like that. It aint gonna be in in no 6 inch cirlce, but yo' ass is gonna be gettin a heavy dose of that lead poisoning from all over with the quickness.
Here is the cool shit...I took my homegirl, T, with me. Her first time shootin' and she was killing the target. Got a couple bull's eyes at like 21 ft. Most impressive was her shootin the 12 gauge. Her little ol' 5'6" 125lbs ass was buckin with that big bitch. And she wasn't even shootin no little weak ass birdshot. Ya girl was bangin with slugs. BOOM cha-chick BOOM cha-chick BOOM.
That shit was great.
AAannnd we shot an M4..A compact verion of the AR-15.....the civilian version of the M-16. And we shot 2 other types of 9mm. We shot my Ruger, a glock, and a taurus (I think it was the version the millitary used to use). Of the 3 she liked the Taurus. It is just a good heavy gun, so it doesn't move when you shoot. It jus sits there on target. The Glock was really light, and moved (recoiled) less than the Taurus, but it almost felt too light. Especially after getting used to the Ruger. The Ruger likes to jump up when you shoot it. The Glock kinda just pushes back and the Taurus just jumpe up a little. If I had to go to another....I don't know which I would take just yet. But I have learned how to handle my Ruger now and I don't want to trade it for nothin.
If you are gonna get a gun you damn sure better get good with it. A big part of being safe with these killing tools (You have to respect them as such. I mean, really, it is that serious) is being able to control them.

Aight....here it is the Workout plan
Ok, this one is for dear little QQ. And for all of you, like QQ, that have already been training...bustin that ass with a ton of cardio, but not really doing any resistance training. It is more intense than it seems (especially if you bust ass through it like I say). It will definitely compliment your large amounts of cardio and it will beat you enough so that you can substitute it in for some of your cardio time.....If you have been doing an hour-an hour and a half a day, then you can bang this out in 20-30 minutes, then follow up with your 30-60 more minutes and have the same, if not more intense, cardiovascular workout along with the resistance training.
I'm not gonna say anything about cardio cause I know you already do a ton of it. You just figure out the proper balance that works for you.
Here is what I have conjured up. I think the best intervals for it should be 2 days of lifting then 2-3 days off.
Day 1:Upper body and we are going to compound everything with extremely short breaks between sets. You may rest long enough to catch your breath and let your heart rate drop between exercises.
Incline press (Barbell or dumbell) 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps. Compound this with shoulder raises. Rotate through different positions each shoulder set. (First time raise your arms directly in front of you and inline with your shoulders, second setraise your arms out to your side, third set raise your arms at about 45 degrees between front and side and fourth set bend over, hold your shoulder blades together and raise your arms in a flapping motion making sure all movement stems from your shoulder sockets...and no swinging, no use of momentum. That's cheating)
Flat press (Barbell or dumbell) 3-4 sets of 8-12 reps. Compound this with locked elbow flys. (Lay on your back, bend your elbows about 45 degrees....get that nice good stretch at the bottom and good tight squeeze at the top...oh and this is a slow exercise, go too fast and you run the risk of seperating your pec from your chest)
Curls (Dumbell, Cables, ez-curl bar....midget, whatever)3-4 sets of 8-12 reps. Compound this with a good tricep exercise. Triceps are like nipples. Everyone has their own favorite way of getting them worked. Do what you like. If you run into shortcomings with you choice then let us know what you're doing and what you are having issues with and we'll make suggestions.
Day 2
This is gonna be the day you work your legs, back, and abs.
I'll finish this later. I'm sleepy now and I wanna call this female a little before I go to bed.

Day 2
This is gonna be the day you work your legs, back, and abs.
I'll finish this later. I'm sleepy now and I wanna call this female a little before I go to bed.
I am having a hard time thinking up stuff for the lowerbody. I do 4-5 exercises. Front Squats, Leg Press ( I usually compound calf raises with leg press.....instead of racking the weight at the end of a set I just slip my feet to the edge of the platform so that just the balls of my feet are there and then hit my calves like that. No boucing or boosting with my legs, just all calf), Leg Curls, and Leg Extensions....and I do them in that order.
Ok, now front squats, my personal variation of the squat. It forces you to have good form because if you don't you will fall over on to your face. What you do is rest the bar on your collar bone region (Imagine there is aline going from one shoulder through the 2 bumps on your collar bone that are in the middle of your chest and then through the other shoulder), take a normal squat stance, feet a little more than shoulder width apart. Keep your shoulders over your butt (with a slight arc in your back...kinda like when you try to make both chest and butt look big) and let your but sink straight down. Do these with light enough weight that you can go completely through your range of motion (till your thighs are on your calves and back up). If this feels uncomfortable or painful you should either drop weight or just use a smaller range of motion.
These are my suggestions for back. Still try for the 4 sets of 12 reps.
Lat Pulldowns, Single Arm Rows, and Good Mornings (Yeah, its a fruity ass name for a calisthenic, but they work. Pretty much they are just back raises without any weight).
I wouldn't try to work these in as copounds right off bat. Working the large muscle groups in your legs will fatigue you a lot quicker and harder than you might guess.
Here is a quick and simple diagram for the kinda confusing exercises, and I will draw more per request.

Like I said in the beginning you should be bustin' ass to get through this. I mean sweatin' and breathin heavy and all that. If you aren't your weight is too light and you are resting too long between sets. You should aim to get through each set of exercise in around 7 minutes or so.
Bust that ass!!

THE SUPER SPECIAL TRICK TO BEING FIT
Ok, here it is.....the muthafuggin TRICK of being in shape....having the ever so rare 8 pack (Yeah...you can get more than a Six). You too can look like that nigga on TV that makes your woman drool in a way that she never does for you......You can be look like Ki Toy, but you gotta know this SUPER SPECIAL TRICK.......and that TRICK issss
THERE IS NO MUTHAFUGGIN TRICK TO BEING FIT!!!!!!!
Another misconception is that there are certain workouts/routines/ways of exercising that are plain out better than all the rest.
Fuck all that!!
I do believe that there are some core principles to follow. I believe that no one will truly ever be fit without following them in conjunction.
Those principles are INTENSITY, CONSISTENCY, AND TITTICITY....OK, I just made up that last word cause your boy likes titties and I got to thinking about Tittie Tiffany Warrior while I was writing this.
Anyway....INTENSITY AND CONSISTENCY. You gotta have both and you have to have them in the proper balance.
Guys that all it takes. Keep it up and bust that butt. The more you bust that ass the less time it will take, but if you let that consistency fall off then all that ass that you busted off will come back. And it goes the same with letting your intensity fall off. And Yes, you can have to much of either one. .....You out to the track for the first time since Jr. Fuckin' High and bust out in some sprints. Yeah, your intensity is fuggin great, but you'll be so fucked up and sore and shit that you ain't gonna be able to make it out to the track for another 6 weeks and that torn hammy is still gonna be hurtin' ya.
It is just straight up all types of important to maintain the right balance.
You gotta find your balance and you have to regularly check it to make sure you are keeping things at the highest possible safe level.
Intensity and Consistency folks.....thats the muthafuggin key.
Workout to come soon, but I feel like it is much more important to get my point across about this than it would be to tell you any ol' work out.
Anyway, fresh new e-mail for the team: PUREDIESEL@gmail.com

Chicks and Lifting
Since The bully's friend Q is really paying attention to the posts and serious about getting in shape, i thought i would give a little insight on chicks and lifting.
The biggest misconception that women have with lifting weights is: Lifting will make me big and bulky. Don't no chick wanna look like Chyna. So when a girl says she's "working out" she's doing some cardio and some crunches.
Maybe week one will go by and she will notice that she's lost like 5 pounds. So she's happy. She keeps pushing and next thing you know she's stuck at the five pounds and that's all she can lose.
Well here's where that apporach is breaking down. All that cardio is really doing good for your heart, but it's doing very little towards burnign the body fat, which is ideally what most women are trying to do. Your body burns very little fat when you're actually working out.
That's where weight training comes into play. See when you do resistance training, you are creating these microscopic tears in your muscle tissue. Within an hour after you're done working out, your body goes into repair mode to fix the little microscopic tears that you've got. So it's trying to pull protein from everywhere in your body to make these fixes. that's why it's important to supply your body with protein right after a hard workout.
Now the fat burning properties of muscle are what makes resistance training all the more worth it. In order to sustain muscle, your body goes to your fat stores first. It's during intense activities, typically after 20 mins and your heart rate is elevated, that your burns carbodhydrates and sugars for energy. (This explains why the "fat burning" level on most cardio machines is so much less intensive than the "cardio" level)
so ladies, don't be afraid to lift. And remember, the biggest muscle groups burn the most fat when you're resting. So when you lift focus on your chest, back, and legs. Also isloation exercises, like dumbells instead of barbells, use a bunch of secondary muscle fibers during the course of the exercise motion. So when you do the incline dumbell press, you're working on your chest, but in order to keep your body aligned properly, you're involuntarily using your shoulders, your back and your abs.
One more thing, lifting makes you a whole lot more aggressive when it comes to beatin and skeetin. And in the long run of things, that's all we ever really care about...

there's working out and there's eating out!
Ha ha, not quite what you all expected when i said eating out huh?
well what started out as a comment on a previous post evolved into this post. The people have spoken and eDot has responded:
"Here's my take on eating.
1. Breakfast is very important. you should always start your day with breakfast. I keep some Honey Nut cheerios at my desk and some skim milk in the fridge. Yeah I said skim milk...you got a problem with that? I'd still whoop yo ass with some skim milk!
2. You don't have to stop eating the food that you like, just control the portions. Eating normal sized meals and snacks through the day is a lot more helpful than the 3 meals a day idea. For those of us that eat out a lot, I've found the easiest way to do this is to split your food soon as you get it. That way you eat half off top. By the time you're done with your half of the food you shouldn't be inclined to eat the other half. So you're actually getting 2 meals for the price of one!
3. Drink a lot of water. Did you know that fat is removed from your body through perspiration and urination? So the more water you have to sweat and pee...you get the message. When that junk is clear, you know you're burning at full capacity
4. Snack healthy. Boy I'll tell you, if you ain't never had some plain almonds that you eat with some vanilla yogurt, boy that's the bizness right thurrr!
5. You gotta get some sleep. If you're putting the right stuff into your body, it works on overdrive when you're resting. You ever notice how cut you look early in the morning? It's cus your body was on that serious grind.
6. Here's what a typical meal for me, mind you i work and i don't have much time to cook so i'm always hitting up fastfood places. but i've found the lesser evils:
Breakfast: 2 egg mcmuffins from McD's and some skim milk
Snack: handful of almonds and some vanilla yogurt
Lunch: subway club and some water
snack: trail mix and some water or almonds and yogurt again
pre workout: peanut butter and jelly sandwich and some skim milk
post workout dinner:some meat and some salad (i've typically gone to dennys after the gym for some steak and eggs or porkchops and eggs and it highly satisfying)
7. As far as carbs and such, it's really about portion control. The whole purpose of carbs is to provide energy for you through the rest of the day. So ideally if you had most of your carbs earlier in the day and then cut back at night, you would typically be fine. What you need all that energy for at night? If you're trying to bang-bang and skeet skeet, don't have no bread...get yourself some red bull or a monster and keep it pushin (literally, LOL!)
8. Drink a lot of water, I typically drink about 4 32oz big gulps of water throughout the day, so i'm always at the head takin a leak. A lot of times when you think you're hungry, you're just thirsty.
9. Like the bully said, fiber is your friend. Try to have it at every meal during the day and maybe not so much during dinner. You can get fiber from milk, whole grains (if it's brown its healthier for you than white). All that fiber will help clean you out.
10. Lastly, continue to enjoy the foods that you like. While there's a "eating plan" you gotta splurge on whatever you want at least once a week. So if wanna get dirty with some ribs, knock yourself out. After all that healthy eating and working out, you probably deserve it.
After about two weeks or so of eating better and working out, you'll start to see results. The most immediate change you'll see is on the scale. I've lost like 8 pounds in 2 weeks and haven't really changed in size.
Reason behind this is, if you're eating properly and lifting and building muscle, then you're burning all that fat even when you don't know it. So even though I was the same size, the weight i dropped was mostly body fat.
That was a pretty long post but hey, the people spoke and I have responded!"

edot workout
since the bully wanna talk about workouts and shit, I figured id give up my workout as well
What I like to focus on is building overall muscle to maximize my metabolism so that I'm burning more fat stores eventhough I aint doing shit. So first I focus on the largest muscle groups like the legs, chest and back. Afterwards I want to focus on the beach parts ie my abs, biceps and triceps. So with that in mind here's my workout from here on out.
5 sets of abs namely cable crunches, leg lifts and side bends
4 sets of 10 barbel squats. Increasing the weight from 275 on up.
Incline dumbell press. 4 sets of 10 starting at 80 and going up
pulldowns 4 sets of 10 starting at 135 and going up from there.
Dumbell curls 4 sets of 10 starting with 45 and working my way up.
Finally triceps pushdowns 4 sets of 10 starting at 100 and working up
I'll typically lift three times a week and do 40 mins of Cardio between the stair stepper (the machine with individual steps per foot not the one with the whole step and it revolves) and the elliptical machine I'll do this on my off days when I'm not lifting
In addition to these workouts I play football about twice a week so I get a high intensity inteval workout on top of all of that

I'm lifting Ol' Skool
Yeah, so I decided to change up the workout plan. Not worried about building up any more muscle or nothing like that. Just wanna work with what I have...be well centered in my basic muscles and I wanted to optimize my workouts so that I could fit in what I really want to do and that is Cardio.
I have taken all lowerbody workouts out of my regimen. I am doing cardio damn near e'ry day of the fuckin' week. My legs stay tired/tore up from the biking jogging/walking and the eliptical joint. I lift upperbody 3 times a week. I only do the same four exercises per day. I do, in this order, 3x8 incline dumbell press, 3x8 bench, 3x8 curls with the ez curl bar, and 3x15 tricep pulldowns with cables.
Thats like what your boy did early in high school and middle school. A few simple exercises, but will get everyting you want to look right lookin right.
Now...the weight that I'm playin with now. I have had to start a little light between me kinda falling off for bout a month and a half and then going to a completely different typ of workout, but the strength is coming back pretty quickly.
Incline Dumbells: I do these with 95lbs. (That is per weight...per hand for all you Lames)
Bench: I'm doing this with 265lbs.
Curls: I'm doing 125lbs.
Triceps: I do the whole stack (150lbs.)
My goals...the weights that if I would consider myself to be a bad ass if I could do all 3 setsa are
Incline Dumbells: 115lbs.
Bench: 295lbs.
Curls: 150lbs.
Triceps: 3x25 with the whole stack.

Yeeeaaahhhh
Thats what I'm tombout!!
Who says glow in the dark negroes are soft????
.......Oh, yeah, thats me that says that. Bet not say that around E-muthafuggin-Dot. Might getcho shit shot the fugg up wit a smile.
Aight, letchur boy go ahead and layout that workout for y'all negroes and negresses:
CARDIO...I be cardioing it up, son. Why? I cardio it up so I can vigorously pump them guts while in that pushup position for a lllooooonnnnggg time. Jackhammer nigga.
I bike to the gym a lot, and then spread my time across 2-4 different cardio machines in the gym (keeps things from getting boring). I do the hardest/most taxing machines first and the easiest last. Makes my workouts more efficient by getting my heart rate up really early and also burning through my anaerobic (not burning oxygen/fat.....just going of what is in the muscle fibers) phase and getting into the aerobic (Used up supplies within the muscle so the muscles have to start drawing from the bodies reserves (fats and stuff)) phase. Once you are into the aerobic phase you don't/cant go quite as hard, but you are burning more calories and stuff.
On days that I lift I split my cardio up. I'll get 30-40 minutes before and 20-30 minutes afterwards. (I like to do cario before cause it warms me up, gets me loose and then the whole aerobic thing making the workout more efficient and then I like to do cardio after lifting cause the extra bloodflow that comes along with cardio flushes out lactic acid that builds up in your muscles when you tear them. (You tear your muscles when you lift and the acid that builds up is what makes you sore and have longer recovery times))
But yeah, I'm tryin to get around an hour or more of cardio 4-5 days a week and 20-30 on the other 2. Gotta have recovery/healing days.
Anyway....its time for your boy to head off on his bike to the gym.
Man up, bitches!!
